Here is our WAG best XI for Euro 2012, compiled through arduous
and painstaking research (tough job). The criteria? Had to fill out an
actual eleven based on the husbands/boyfriends. The husbands/boyfriends
had to be on a roster for Euro 2012. Had to be, at least according to a
cursory google search, still dating or married. Cheryl Cole, sadly, no
longer would qualify.
GK: Sara Carbonero – Spain [Iker Casillas]
The soon to be Mrs. Casillas is a television presenter for Telecinco in
Spain. She shared a famous kiss with him while in South Africa covering
the World Cup. She was once named the sexiest sports reporter in the
world (Tim Ryan still thinks he got robbed).
D: Lara Alvarez – Spain [Sergio Ramos] Another Real Madrid and Spain star. Another gorgeous Spanish TV reporter. The entire Spain team could be Vanderbilt assistants.
D: Shakira – Spain [Gerard Pique] Columbian musician. Two-time Grammy winner. Does a lot of belly-dancing.
D: Sidoni Biemont – France [Adil Rami] She’s French. She does some sort of modeling. That’s about all I’ve got.
M: Oksana Wilhelmsson – Sweden [Christian Wilhelmsson] She’s a Swedish model who was also on a reality TV show. [Photos via her website]
M: Sarah Brandner – Germany [Bastian Schweinsteiger] Her wikipedia page lists being Schweinsteiger’s girlfriend and occasional modeling gigs. That’s a fair summary.
M: Sylvie van der Vaart – Netherlands [Rafael van der Vaart] She’s a model, TV presenter and cancer survivor.
M: Lena Gercke – Germany [Sami Khedira] She is a model and television personality. She won Germany’s first season of Next Top Model.
M: Yolanthe Sneijder Cabau – Netherlands [Wesley Sneijder] She’s an actress and also has a foundation dedicated to stopping child sex abuse.
F: Irina Shayk – Portugal [Cristiano Ronaldo] Sports Illustrated swimsuit model. Fairly self-explanatory.
F: Melanie Slade – England [Theo Walcott] Met when he was still a trainee at Southampton. She has a degree, gainful employment that isn’t underwear modeling and once turned down a Ferrari.
