Tony Oursler at PinchukArtCentre in Kiev, Ukraine (VIDEO)

Tony Oursler's exhibition agentic iced etcetera at thePinchukArtCentre in Kiev, Ukraine, is the first major solo exhibition by the artist in Eastern Europe. Tony Oursler: agentic iced etcetera features specially produced new works -- including a Ukrainian speaking installation -- as well as some of the most iconic pieces by the artist. The New York-based risk-taker has been a pioneer of New Media and video art, and is known for projecting moving images onto objects. In the video below, Eckhard Schneider (General Director, PinchukArtCenter) talks about the mission of PinchukArtCentre, and Bjorn Geldhof (Deputy Artistic Director, PinchukArtCenter) speaks about the significance of Oursler's oeuvre. Finally, Oursler himself talks in detail about his new works on view:

Oursler is today among the most important as well as the most influential artists of our generation. Formally, he has has developed a wide-ranging use of materials such as resin, glass, fabric, steel and various found objects, which are kaleidoscopically overlaid with projection, light and sound, forming a unique embodiment of his themes.
Projecting moving images onto objects, Oursler moves beyond traditional uses of media such as cinema, television and the computer and creates something akin to "living" sculptures. The scenarios he devises are often full of poetic and humorous performances, incorporating all manner of physical and auditory representations of the human form.
Tony Oursler graduated from the California Institute of the Arts in 1979 and is currently based in New York. His works have been widely exhibited internationally, including solo shows at the ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum (2012); Padiglione d'Arte Contemporanea, Milan (2011); Whitney Museum of American Art, New York (2010); Kunsthaus Bregenz (2009); Kunstforeningen GL Strand, Copenhagen (2006); Musee d'Orsay, Paris (2004) and many more. Group exhibitions include the Museum of Art and Design, New York (2012); Cincinnati Art Museum (2011); Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh (2010); Whitney Museum of American Art, New York (2010) and the Museum of Modern Art, New York (2008).
PinchukArtCentre is an international centre for contemporary art in Kiev, the capital and largest city in Ukraine. It was opened in 2006 by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation. Tony Oursler: agentic iced etcetera is on view until April 21, 2013.

Meteorite falls In Chelyabinsk Russia. Many injured. Video

A meteor streaked across the sky above Russia’s Ural Mountains on Friday morning, causing sharp explosions and reportedly injuring around 929 people, including many hurt by broken glass. Fragments of the asteroid fell in a thinly populated area of the Chelyabinsk region, the Emergency Ministry said in a statement. Interior Ministry spokesman Vadim Kolesnikov said 292 people had called for medical assistance following the incident, mostly for treatment of injuries from glass broken by the explosions. Kolsenikov also said about 600 square meters (6000 square feet) of a roof at a zinc factory had collapsed. Reports conflicted on what exactly happened in the clear skies. A spokeswoman for the Emergency Ministry, Irina Rossius, told The Associated Press that there was a meteor shower, but another ministry spokeswoman, Elena Smirnikh, was quoted by the Interfax news agency as saying it was a single meteorite.

Barbie And Ken Take Doll Comments As Compliments

She's the woman known around the world as the real-life Barbie. A Russian beauty named Valeria Lukyanova.

"Barbie is ideal woman," said Lukyanova.

Like the doll herself, she is ageless, and we mean that, literally. She will not reveal her age. But she will admit to a lifelong obsession with the legendary doll.
"I love Barbie since I'm five," said Lukyanova.

To enhance her Barbie appearance, she wears blue contact lenses over her naturally green eyes. She's had breast implants, but insists the rest of her body is totally natural. She stays in shape with gym workouts, and enhances that Barbie look with makeup and wardrobe.

And it sure does work with the blonde hair, the blue eyes, the pouty lips, the hourglass waist.

Our real-life Barbie is also an opera singer! But to really hit that high note, she needs a partner—a real-life Ken.

And we've found him! His name is Justin Jedlica, and he shares the same traits as the classic Ken doll.
"I think the Ken doll reference is flattering," said Jedlica.

He's got the high cheekbones, the strong chin, the muscular chest, the narrow waist.

And if you think these traits came easily to this 32-year-old New Yorker, guess again. was with him for his 100th cosmetic surgical procedure.
"I've had my nose done five times, cheeks, lips, chin," said Jedlica.
One operation was performed to insert implants to enlarge his deltoid muscles, which means that cosmetic Ken has no real strength, as we found out when we took him to a gym and he couldn't pick up a small barbell. Well, whoever heard of a doll lifting weights?

We're about to introduce the real-life Ken to the real-life Barbie. Will sparks fly when they meet? Stay tuned.
