A unknown person has brought a picture of Izaak Ouwater, «Nieuwstraat in Hoorn» to The Embassy of the Netherlands in Kyiv


On 30 of  May unknown person has brought a picture of  Izaak Ouwater,  «Nieuwstraat in Hoorn», 1784 to The Embassy of the Netherlands in Kyiv . The picture is one of those works that were stolen from the Museum of Western Frisland Dutch town of Hoorn on the night of January 10, 2005.
The people got this picture as a present a few years ago. All this time the picture was at his home.
Two weeks ago the man brought the painting to the art specialist  to get professional advice on the authorship the value and artistic value of the work. 
 
It is during such consultation by art specialist found and told the owner that the picture belongs to a stolen ten years ago collection.
After that people just decided to turn it to the real owners. Return the painting is in very poor condition and in need of restoration.


The Royal Netherlands Embassy in Kiev plans to hold as soon as possible examination of the authenticity of the painting.  If the examination confirms that the picture really belongs to the collection stolen from town Horn, this work of art will be a fifth found in Ukraine.

We remind, March 14, the SBU reported that they found four paintings which were stolen in January 2005 from a Dutch museum. There were 24 paintings stolen centuries of 16-17 and 70 silver products.
