UK, 'This hooker's ugly': 999 caller phoned police to complain about a prostitute's looks after meeting her.

A man has received a warning from police after calling 999 to complain that a prostitute he met outside a hotel was not as attractive as she had promised. The nuisance caller claimed that the woman had 'breached the Sale of Goods Act' by mis-representing her looks in a newspaper advert. However, officers in Solihull told him that the prostitute had not committed an offence - and reminded him that he may have broken the law against soliciting for sex. West Midlands Police have now tracked the man down and sent him a letter warning him about wasting police time with frivolous complaints. A spokesman for the service said: 'A 999 call was received by police at around 7.30pm on Tuesday evening from a man wishing to complain about a sex worker he had met on a hotel car park. 'The caller claimed that the woman had made out she was better looking than she actually was, and he wished to report her for breaching the Sale of Goods Act. 'When he raised this is

Dieumerci Mbokani target set for Dynamo

Image
West Brom and Hull City look set to miss out on Anderlecht striker Dieumerci Mbokani, who is set for a medical at Dynamo Kiev. The DR Congo striker is ready to travel to the Ukraine to finalise the move on a three-year contract even though Anderlecht have not confirmed whether they have agreed a fee for him. The Belgian champions' asking price is believed to be £9million for the 27-year-old frontman, who scored 19 league goals last season. Mbokani was waiting on an EU passport application which would have opened up the door for a move to the Premier League as he would not have needed a work permit. But it looks as though his hopes of receiving the documentation have been hit, forcing him to consider Dynamo Kiev's offer which has been on the table for over a month. West Brom had been chasing Mbokani but knew that they would have been struggling to get a work permit for him if they went to the Home Office as DR Congo are currently outside the top 70 on the Fifa World Ranking

DuPont Co . (DD), the largest U.S. chemical company by market value, is opening a seed plant in Ukraine tomorrow to meet increasing demand in the region that supplies corn and sunflower products. The facility, with a planned annual capacity of 500,000 units and the potential to expand, cost DuPont $41.5 million, Jeffrey D. Kiev puts up monument to Sweden Euro 2012 fans on the Trukhaniv Island.

Image
Kiev has unveiled an unusual monument paying tribute to the thousands of exuberant Swedish football fans who flooded into the city last year for the 2012 European championships hosted by Ukraine and Poland. Up to 25,000 Swedish supporters visited Kiev where their team played all of its three matches. They were the largest group of fans and generally left a favourable impression on locals, who are keen for them to return as tourists. City officials on Saturday unveiled the sculpture on the picturesque Trukhaniv Island in the Dniepr River where many Swedish fans camped out in tents. The sculpture is topped with Viking horns and depicts the number "12" in Sweden's national colours of blue and yellow. Fans are sometimes described as the "number 12" player in a team. Nevertheless some Swedish fans complained the figures also brought back bad memories of the first game of the championship when Sweden lost 1:2 to Ukraine. "I see the numbers. It i

Femen warns Muslim countries over sexism.

Image
Call it ‘commando stripping’ if you like; that is how radical feminist protest group Femen grabs attention. This week bare-breasted in Brussels, at the Islamic Cultural Centre the women called for the release of a young Tunisian. Amina’s ‘offence’ was disrupting ultra-conservative Muslims. She upset a lot with online photos showing “my body is my own” written on it. One of the movement’s founders issued a warning from home base in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev. Oleksandra Shevchenko told our correspondent there: “Our main target today is the Middle East. Our first action in the Islamic republics yesterday was set up by two French activists and a German. They were defending our fellow activist. She’s been in prison for two weeks. I think that Amina could become the trigger of a women’s Arab Spring.” So, countries where Islamic traditionalist law imposes on women have been added to the Femen field of operations. But even in London, during the Olympic Games they protested again

UEFA Punish Kiev Over Racism

UEFA has ordered Dynamo Kiev to play their next two home matches in European competition behind closed doors due to two incidents of "racist conduct by their supporters" at the Olympic National Sports Complex. The Ukraine club's fans are alleged to have behaved in a racist manner in Dynamo's Champions League clash with Paris St Germain in November last year and then again in the Europa League against Bordeaux in February. And UEFA, whose general secretary Gianni Infantino has announced proposed sanctions of banning players for a minimum of 10 matches if they are found guilty of a racist offence, has taken a dim view of the fans' conduct although the club has lodged an appeal. "FC Dynamo Kiev have been ordered to play their next two UEFA competition home matches behind closed doors due to racist conduct by supporters," said a statement on UEFA's official website. "The first match behind closed doors applies to the next UEFA club compet

Kiev paralyzed by snowstorm

Image
KIEV, Ukraine --  The city of Kiev has declared a state of emergency after the Ukrainian capital was paralyzed by an unprecedented snowstorm that has stalled car, railway and air traffic. The city was hit by about 50 centimeters (20 inches) of snow in the past day, more than it usually receives per month during this season. Tractors, armored vehicles and other heavy equipment were dispatched Saturday to clear roads blocked by kilometers-long traffic jams. Desperate to get home, some Kiev drivers simply abandoned their stalled cars on the roads and set out on foot. Kiev's main airport, Boryspil, was working with delays, the smaller Zhulyany airport was closed and Ukraine's International Airlines grounded all its planes until Sunday morning. Church Wants Cyprus to Quit Euro

Image
The head of the powerful Orthodox Church in Cyprus said in an interview published on Saturday that he favoured the debt-ridden island nation leaving the euro. “It’s not easy, but we should devote to this as much time as was spent on entering the eurozone,” Archbishop Chrysostomos II said in an interview with the Greek daily Realnews. “The euro cannot last,” said Chrysostomos, who this week offered to help bail the country out of its financial crisis by putting the church’s considerable assets at the government’s disposal. “I’m not saying that it will crumble tomorrow, but with the brains that they have in Brussels, it is certain that it will not last in the long term, and the best is to think about how to escape it,” he said. The Orthodox church is the largest landowner on the island and also has stakes in a wide range of businesses, including in the country’s Hellenic Bank, with total assets estimated to run into tens of millions of euros. On Wednesday, Chrysostomos met

Meteorite falls In Chelyabinsk Russia. Many injured. Video

Image
A meteor streaked across the sky above Russia’s Ural Mountains on Friday morning, causing sharp explosions and reportedly injuring around 929 people, including many hurt by broken glass. Fragments of the asteroid fell in a thinly populated area of the Chelyabinsk region, the Emergency Ministry said in a statement. Interior Ministry spokesman Vadim Kolesnikov said 292 people had called for medical assistance following the incident, mostly for treatment of injuries from glass broken by the explosions. Kolsenikov also said about 600 square meters (6000 square feet) of a roof at a zinc factory had collapsed. Reports conflicted on what exactly happened in the clear skies. A spokeswoman for the Emergency Ministry, Irina Rossius, told The Associated Press that there was a meteor shower, but another ministry spokeswoman, Elena Smirnikh, was quoted by the Interfax news agency as saying it was a single meteorite.

Barbie And Ken Take Doll Comments As Compliments

She's the woman known around the world as the real-life Barbie. A Russian beauty named Valeria Lukyanova. "Barbie is ideal woman," said Lukyanova. Like the doll herself, she is ageless, and we mean that, literally. She will not reveal her age. But she will admit to a lifelong obsession with the legendary doll. "I love Barbie since I'm five," said Lukyanova. To enhance her Barbie appearance, she wears blue contact lenses over her naturally green eyes. She's had breast implants, but insists the rest of her body is totally natural. She stays in shape with gym workouts, and enhances that Barbie look with makeup and wardrobe. And it sure does work with the blonde hair, the blue eyes, the pouty lips, the hourglass waist. Our real-life Barbie is also an opera singer! But to really hit that high note, she needs a partner—a real-life Ken. And we've found him! His name is Justin Jedlica, and he shares the same traits as the classic Ken doll.
