200 VOLUNTEERS WILL ASSIST IN KYIV for the U16 European Championship Men.

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) EuroBasket 2015 will attract around 200 volunteers for the U16 European Championship Men, which will be held in Kyiv's Sports Palace from 8 to 18 August this year.

According to Tournament Director Markian Lubkivskyi, the Local Organising Committee will recruit about 200 volunteers who will be co-organisers of the U16 European Championship Men in 2013:

"We have had a successful experience of a volunteer project during UEFA EURO 2012, back then it was actually the first major international sports event held in our country and it's success would be hard to imagine without the thousands of volunteers who helped the organisers during the tournament. Holding the European basketball championship this year also involves attracting volunteers. It's nice that many of the volunteers who worked during EURO 2012 gladly agreed to participate in this year's volunteer project."

According to M. Lubkivskyi, less than one month after the opening of registration, as of today, 275 volunteers had applied (90% of which are volunteers with work experience during UEFA EURO 2012), including not only Ukrainians but as well citizens of countries like USA, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Canada, China, Egypt, Russia, Iraq, Jordan, Morocco, Turkey and Nigeria.

The LOC Volunteer Project Coordinator Tetyana Miskova, said that from the first day of the registration, without any advertising, the activity among those willing to volunteer for the U16 championship was very high:

"We are pleasantly surprised that our call to join the organisation of the U16 European Championship in such a short time found a positive response among volunteers! Of course, for the EURO 2012 volunteers, as well as for beginners, this tournament will be a wonderful opportunity once again to come together to develop their skills, to practice foreign languages, feel the spirit of an international event and to show the participants and visitors of the tournament our hospitality."

Registration for volunteers will run until 5 July under goo.gl/BiSM9 and interviews with the candidates are scheduled for 13-14 July. After that, groups of volunteers will be formed depending on areas of activity. A few weeks before the tournament volunteers will go through e-learning as well as onsite trainings under their direct manager.

In addition to working at an international tournament many surprises await our volunteers as well as gifts from the organisers and of course lots of fun.
