Constantinople Patriarchate began consideration of the application of the autocephalous Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Archbishop of Chernigov and official spokesman for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Kyiv Patriarchate) Yevstratii Zorya on his Facebook page announced the beginning of formal review application filed before of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Ukrainian Orthodox Church autocephalous status. Archbishop Yevstratii explained, it is "expected decision that formalizes further work on the issue of recognition of the autocephalous".
On June 16 Parliament urged the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to give Ukraine autocephalous Orthodox Church. The deputies called for annulment of the act in 1686 according to which "in violation of the canons of" Kyiv Metropolis was annexed to the Moscow Patriarchate.
