Hayden Panettiere joins fiancé Wladimir Klitschko in Ukraine protests
Hayden Panettiere has joined the demonstrations in Ukraine.
The 24-year-old actress shared a photo of herself protesting in Kiev, Ukraine, alongside her Ukrainan boxer fiancé Wladimir Klitschko.
Klitschko's brother is opposition leader Vitali Klitschko, and the "Nashville" actress is there to support her beau's family and their country.
"Amazing watching #WladimirKlitschko personally connect with the Ukrainian demonstrators," Panettiere tweeted on Dec. 8.
She then shared the pic with her husband-to-be, captioning it, "#frontlines #Ukraine."
A video of Panettiere addressing the crowd of protesters,
who are there to challenge the Russian-leaning government, at the square in
Kiev.
"The beauty of this country is breathtaking: the landscape, the
beautiful churches. But nothing compares to the undeniably deep souls of the
Ukrainian people," she said."There is a movement happening here and we have a chance to make things right, to make things just. You have a right to a democracy."
"Your struggles and your fight are not falling on deaf ears. You are being heard. The world will hear you," she continued to the people at the square in Kiev.
"And as an American, I want you to know that I stand by you, I support your fight, and I will support it until the country of Ukraine in its entirety reflects the beauty, the true beauty of the Ukrainian people. Keep fighting. I love you all."
A-list actor George Clooney has also shown his support for the movement in a video shared by Klitschko.
"You cannot have a democracy when you arrest and harm its peaceful protesters," the "Gravity" actor said in the clip that looked to be shot with an iPhone.
"You certainly cannot have a true democracy if you take political prisoners like (former Prime Minister Yulia) Tymoshenko, simply because you disagree with the way they want to govern. So let me just say this to all of you in the square in Kiev, or all around Ukraine: When you look to the West, know that we are looking back at you with great admiration."
"Thank you to George Clooney for lending your voice to the fight in #Ukraine !!! Now, let's turn up the volume!," Panettiere tweeted about the 53-year-old star.
