The official site of the Basketball Federation of Latvia announced that in the coming days will be announced a tender for the Eurobasket 2015 (deadline - July 31). According to preliminary information the holding of the tournament already interested in 16 countries, including Latvia.
In addition, it was decided in 2015 to change the system of the final tournament and after the first group stage will begin playoff series for the top 16 participants. Usually held at Eurobasket there was also second group stage.
It is also noted that in Ukraine retained the priority right of the Eurobasket 2017 if the country decides to pursue this tournament.
On May 6 France issued a bid to host the matches of the men's European basketball championship in 2015 and offered to host a tournament or parts of matches instead of Ukraine.
EuroBasket 2015 would be held in six cities of Ukraine - Kiev, Lviv, Odessa, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk.
