The head of Boryspil airport KBP suggested Ryanair fly from/to Gostomel airport.
Budget airlines need to be attracted to Gostomel, not Boryspil, the general director of Boryspil airport Pavel Ryabikin said at the infrastructure forum in Kiev.
According to him, the simultaneous attraction of budget carriers and the development of the hub leads to an internal conflict in the operational activities of the airport.
At the moment, B and F terminals with international zones are being shut down at Boryspil airport. All flights are currently served by terminal D.
Among the major European air hubs the hub's strategy and at the same time low-cost bases are combined in Frankfurt (Ryanair), Charles de Gaulle in Paris CDG (easyJet), Chopin in Warsaw WAW (Wizz Air).
Aerodrome Gostomel, where Ryanair is offered to fly instead of Boryspil airport has one 3500-meter runway and capable of receiving the world's largest An-225 Mriya airplane and is used as a flight test and refueling base for the Antonov aircraft.
The airfield is also the base of the air transport department of the company - the Antonov Airlines, engaged in cargo transportation and in some cases, upon request accepts aircraft of other air carriers.
The infrastructure for servicing passenger scheduled flights at the moment at Gostomel airfield is not developed.
