Will Smith Slaps Ukraine Kissing TV Reporter 1+1 channel on Red Carpet (video!)

Image
Will Smith   let his homophobia get the better of him today while on the red carpet promoting his new film “Men in Black 3″ in the Ukraine. He pushed back and slapped a foreign reporter who tried to kiss him. “Whoa hey, what the hell is your problem, man,” Smith said after pushing the reporter away. “Hey, he tried to kiss me on my mouth,” he told the next reporter in line. Will should take some sensitivity training and learn a little bit about local custom. In the Ukraine and throughout most of Eastern Europe, it’s common for men to kiss each other on each cheek as a greeting. It’s as common as shaking hands here, which Will did with the reporter before the man leaned in and planted his lips on both of Will’s cheeks. The incident was caught on tape and showed Smith angrily pushing him away and giving him a light backhand him across the face. Smith who was with his publicist looked irritated, but was laughing about it moments later. “He’s lucky I ain’

EURO 2012 gives Ukraine chance to ditch bad stereotypes

Image
A backward country infested with corruption, AIDS, prostitutes and racist thugs. This is the description of Ukraine splashed on the pages of tabloids across Europe in recent weeks, warning fans of the dangers of visiting the country for the Euro 2012 soccer championship in June. While some of these criticisms ring true, Ukrainians, tourism experts and expatriates say these views are often exaggerated or outright false. But Ukraine does a bad job of advertising itself, and successive governments have consistently failed to tackle the issues that give it a bad reputation. Despite an ancient history, beautiful nature and hospitable people, it seems Ukraine remains among the destinations least favored by international travel agencies and Western democracies. This is so despite the fact that Ukraine, unlike Russia and many other former Soviet republics, has allowed visa-free travel to citizens of most Western nations since 2005. Ukrainians are hoping the upcoming football c

Pig is a new oracle Euro 2012

Image
The fame of Octopus Paul from the 2010 World Cup put animal oracles the world over on alert. At Euro 2012, a prophetic pig is set to predict the outcomes of football games at the official fan-zone in Ukraine’s capital, Kiev. The boar, described as  “a true connoisseur of football mysteries and a prophet”  will give his forecast at 5pm local time on every matchday of the European Championships. The swine is a very respected creature in Ukraine, as it is the source the country’s favorite dish – a type of salt-cured pork fat – Salo. Animal oracles became very popular after Octopus Paul accurately predicted the outcome of all of Germany’s matches at the 2010 World Cup, as well as the Spanish victory in the finals. Many other critters tried to follow his tentacle-steps, including Heidi the crossed-eyed opossum, but none has managed to emulate his success.

Ukraine feminist strips and attacks Euro 2012 (Video)

Image
A member of a Ukrainian feminist group stripped to the waist and attacked the trophy for the Euro 2012 football championship on Saturday, before security carried her off. The incident took place in Kiev's central Independence Square, where the trophy for the European football championship was on display. The woman, a member of the shock protest group Femen, had "F*** Euro-2012" painted on her torso. News reports identified her as Yulia Kovachik, 23. She was able to knock the trophy off its display stand before police detained her seconds later, a witness said. She was arrested and police carried her from the scene rolled up in a Euro 2012 advertising banner. The trophy was slightly damaged, a group spokeswoman said. The group Femen has been outspoken in its opposition to Ukraine's co-hosting of Euro 2012, arguing that the sports event will increase prostitution in the country. Government officials have said they expect the
