Ukrainian epee fencers are bronze medalists of the European Championship-2026!
Our team consisting of Roman Svichkar, Nikita Koshman, Yevhen Makienko and Mykhailo Krasnyuk, after difficult victories over the Czech Republic🇨🇿 (45:39) and Hungary🇭🇺 (45:37) and a defeat in the semifinals from the reigning champions and hosts of the track - the French national team🇫🇷 (33:45), in the match for third place they defeated Switzerland🇨🇭 (44:31), which won three out of five World Cups this season.
💥It should be noted that from our medal four, only Roman Svichkar had previously climbed the podium of the European Championship, namely, he won personal gold in Genoa-2025. For Nikita Koshman, who is the bronze medalist of the last World Championship, Yevhen Makienko and debutant Mykhailo Krasnyuk, this is the first European Championship award in their careers.
🎉And for Ukraine, this is the first Euro team medal in men's epee since 2017, when Volodymyr Stankevych, Maksym Khvorost, Bohdan Nikishyn and Anatoliy Gerei became silver medalists.
💪💙Our congratulations to the newly minted medalists, their families, personal mentors, senior men's epee coach Ihor Reizlin and the entire Ukrainian national team!
