    In 2020, the IT service market grew by 20% compared to 2019 (data from BRDO). The total share of IT in Ukraine's export structure is 8.3%.

    In 2019, the total number of taxes and fees paid to the state budget of Ukraine from the IT sector reached UAH 16.7 billion.

    According to various sources, there are from 3000 to 5000 IT companies in Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian government, today there are 1142 grocery companies and 858 service companies in the country.
    More than 100 companies from the Fortune 500 list have used Ukrainian outsourcing services. There are more than 100 R&D companies in Ukraine, which are either owned or partners with such giants as Google, Samsung, Siemens, Huawei.

How the IT ecosystem differs in the top 4 cities of Ukraine

     The most developed ecosystem in the capital of Ukraine - Kiev. At the same time, Kharkiv accounts for 65% of all exports of IT services to the United States.
     Average salaries are about the same - the highest in Kiev ($ 2,400 per month). In Lviv and Odessa - $ 2100. In Kharkov - $ 1900.

 IT specialists: salaries, programming languages, experience

     Half of all Ukrainian IT specialists have 2 to 5 years of experience behind them. 56% are engaged in outsourcing.
     The main programming language for 18% of developers in 2020 is JavaScript. This language is also additional for 44% of specialists.

 

 Developer salaries in Ukraine start at $ 780 per month for beginners and reach $ 4000 at the senior level. Only tech leaders and architects have higher salaries. Middle developers earn $ 1500-2600 per month. This is about $ 18,000-33,000 per year.
     Ukrainian outsourcers charge on average about $ 25-40 per hour for the work of one specialist. For comparison, in Poland and the Czech Republic the prices are higher - $ 40- $ 56 and $ 34- $ 53, respectively. 

 Salaries of specialists depend not only on the level of their qualifications, but also on the programming language, position, stack, experience and city of residence. 

 Impact of the pandemic

The coronavirus pandemic has led to a significant slowdown in the dynamics of the IT market. The most notable drop in the number of vacancies was recorded in April 2020. However, by the fall, the sphere returned to pre-crisis indicators, and in January 2021 it showed a noticeable growth.
