Kharkiv agrees on production of Turkish Karsan buses

 

 A Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Kharkiv between the Kharkiv City Council and the Turkish bus company Karsan with reference to the CTS.

The document was signed on April 8, during the International Forum "Municipal Infrastructure: Urban Development and Comfort".

According to the Secretary of the Kharkiv City Council Igor Terekhov, in a few years Kharkiv plans to purchase about 500 Turkish-made buses, which will be the basis for the creation of municipal public transport in the city.

    “Buses are spacious, with a low floor, with anti-vandal coverage. These are buses of a completely different level and class, they will be municipal. This will allow us to keep tariffs and ensure the stability of transportation, "- said Terekhov.

He noted that this year the city will buy about 150 buses of various classes: 8-meter buses will run during rush hour, 6-meter - when traffic is less.

The rest of the buses will be assembled in Kharkiv.

    “We have agreed with our Turkish partners that these buses will be collected in our city. To do this, we will create about 300 jobs. On the basis of which enterprise this will happen, Turkish investors will decide. But negotiations with local businesses are already underway. This is an economically profitable project for Kharkiv, ”the secretary of the Kharkiv City Council added.
