Ukrzaliznytsia will restore DS3 and DE1 electric locomotives
JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" is implementing a pilot project to restore electric locomotives series DS3 and DE1.
This was stated by a member of the Board of JSC UZ Frantisek Bures. with reference to the CTS.
“We plan to start a pilot project to restore electric locomotives of series DE1 and DS3 of Ukrainian production, which are at the end of their life cycle. "The pilot will be held in cooperation with the Ukrainian locomotive manufacturer Dnipro Electric Locomotive Plant," Buresh said.
He clarified that "on the" shoulders "of DEVZ will be the technical side, consultations on the development of design and technical documentation for overhaul and modernization of electric locomotives." UZ, for its part, will provide production and modernization capacities for the Lviv Locomotive Repair and Zaporizhia Locomotive Repair Plants.
We will remind that DE1 - the first Ukrainian freight electric locomotive of a direct current. It was developed and built at the Dnieper Electric Locomotive Plant. This model was produced in the period from 1998 to 2008. During this time, the company has built 40 such locomotives.
A more modern development of the plant from the Dnieper in 2002 was a freight passenger electric locomotive DS3. It was created with the participation of Siemens. The German concern took over the power electronics of the traction drive, DEVZ - the mechanical part. In the period from 2002 to 2008, only 18 DS3 electric locomotives were produced.
