The Ukrainian parliament is preparing a bill to support Ukrainian athletes.

Andriy Kozhemyakin, head of the parliamentary committee on youth and sports, stated that the document aims to establish a minimum level of representation for Ukrainian players, particularly in team sports.

According to him, the Ukrainian Football Association's (UAF) decision to ease the limit on foreign players in the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL) could harm the development of Ukrainian football, as it will become even more difficult for young players to break into the starting lineups, and clubs will lose the incentive to invest in their own academies.

The bill is planned to be developed after studying international experience and consultations with sports federations.
