German pharmaceutical giant STADA acquires Biopharma


The German company STADA, with a turnover of 2.3 billion euros, will acquire the pharmaceutical business of prescription and over-the-counter medicines Biopharma and enter the Ukrainian market.

The agreement provides for the acquisition of production facilities in the city of Bila Tserkva (Kyiv region). In doing so, Biopharma will retain its own plasma production and focus on its development both in Ukraine and abroad. The merger is expected to be completed in December 2019, once all permits have been obtained.

The purchase agreement has become one of the largest financial investments in the pharmaceutical sector of Ukraine. The pharmaceutical business of Biopharma will become an integral part of STADA in Ukraine and will have a strong growth potential in the production of high quality prescription and over-the-counter drugs.

The company promises to integrate business into its group as soon as possible, stimulate synergistic effect and mobilize the potential of the acquired plant. Biopharma is a leading pharmaceutical company in Ukraine, which since 2014 has built two modern plants in Belaya Tserkov that meet the requirements of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
