In Ukraine, the production of "green" electricity has almost doubled
In 2020, Ukraine generated more than 10.2 billion kWh of electricity from renewable sources, which is actually twice as much as in 2019.
This is stated in the report on the results of the NCRECP in 2020 with reference to Ukrinform.
"In 2020, the positive dynamics of increasing the capacity of electricity facilities that produce electricity from alternative sources has been preserved. Thus, the amount of electricity generated from RES last year increased to 10,219 billion kWh compared to 5,570 billion kWh in 2019, "the document reads.
Simultaneously with a significant increase in RES capacity in Ukraine last year, there was a critical decrease in peak electricity consumption - compared to previous years by 10%.
According to the regulator, such dynamics is associated with abnormally warm weather, declining global demand for metal products, as well as the introduction of quarantine measures.
"All this, as well as the provision of cross-subsidization of household consumers has led to the formation of a significant financial imbalance in the market and, as a consequence, mutual debt between market participants. And to resolve the situation, the National Commission for Regulation of Economic Competition has revised the levels of "green tariffs", the National Commission added.
It should be noted that in April 2021, the then Deputy Minister of Energy Yuriy Boyko stated that the share of renewable energy sources in the total balance of electricity production in Ukraine in 2020 has already reached 12.4%, in 2021 - will exceed 13%, ie will overcome the figure that according to the Energy Strategy of Ukraine for the period up to 2035, it was to be achieved only by 2030.
