ANCIENT ROMAN COINS FOUNDED IN KYIV (PHOTOS)
Discovered money was in circulation for nearly five centuries.
An unexpected find was waiting for archaeologists in Kiev Podol, when local residents organized a planting of fruit trees. Artifacts were found on the corner of Kozhemyatskaya and Voznesenskyy descent.
It turned out that the find of two dozen coins, several buckles, brooches and numerous ceramics remains of historically very valuable.
“The found Roman coins are denarii of the first centuries of our era. They were at a depth of 30 centimeters - below this level is modern concrete! And cultural layers in this place start from a depth of one and a half meters, ”said Vyacheslav Baranov, a researcher at the Institute of Archeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
According to the archaeologist Nikita Sidko, in addition to the coins, fibulas and fragments of ceramics are also of interest.
