A fossil shark tooth about 50 million years old has been found in the capital's Obolon

 

A fossil shark tooth about 50 million years old was found in Obolon, Kyiv. The unique find was discovered during the works to strengthen the Obolonsky district of Kyiv and will soon be transferred to the museum.

KV learned about this from a message from Volodymyr Hrutsenko, an employee of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, on his Facebook page.

“During the work on strengthening the Obolonsky district of Kyiv, an employee of the Small Academy of Sciences Yevhen Pashchenko found a fossil shark tooth about 50 million years old (Paleogene). The size of the tooth suggests that the length of the predatory fish was at least 3-3.5 m, ”he wrote.

He also said that the find will be transferred to the museum, where it will be part of a special exhibition.
