Ukraine can carry out sea and river transport only through the ports of the Danube

Due to Russia's blockade of the seaports of "Greater Odessa" and Mykolayiv, the occupation of Berdyansk and the storming of Mariupol, Ukraine can carry out sea and river transport only through the ports of the Danube in the south of Odessa region.

This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olga Stefanyshyna in Odessa, the National Industrial Portal reports with reference to the CTS.

The largest sea trade ports were forced to stop their work due to blocking the entrance and exit to the Black Sea.

That is why the Deputy Prime Minister discussed the important steps needed to reorient foreign economic activity to existing ports and land corridors.

In particular, she noted that the opportunities for Danube shipping should be used more actively.

“Despite the martial law, the heyday of Ukraine's inland waterways and river navigation is coming. Work is underway to gain Ukraine the status of a candidate for membership in the European Union, which will give us access to EU structural funds. Social and financial stability, energy and logistical security will be the main areas of funding, "said Stefanyshyna.

In this context, she stressed the need to develop systematic proposals for the development of waterways, because, according to her, support for river navigation will be given special attention in the dialogue with the European Commission.
