The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine has decided on the number and models of Antonov aircraft to purchase

On October 8, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov signed a Memorandum with the Antonov State Enterprise on the purchase of An-178 aircraft for the MIA.

The document was signed during the 16th specialized exhibition "Weapons and Security".

    “We have now signed preliminary supply arrangements for the An-178 MIA. This is a Ukrainian handsome man who will ship to Ukraine for the first time. Nine aircraft will operate for the needs of SES. Four more will be used by the National Guard, ”Avakov said.

The Minister stressed that the 9 planes planned for SES units would be used, including for fire fighting.

Four units of the An-178, which will receive the National Guard - for the carriage of goods and personnel.

It is noted that the advantage of these aircraft, in particular for the SES is multimodality, that is, a fire aircraft can be quickly converted into a medical evacuation, cargo or transport.

Separately, it is planned to install a container type fire extinguishing system that will generate small water bombs.

In turn, SESS Chairman Mykola Chechotkin emphasized that the issue of retrofitting the service fleet remains relevant.

    “New aircraft allow us to perform our tasks better and more quickly. Besides, to work abroad because emergencies do not know borders, ”Chechotkin noted.

The interior minister also called for support for domestic aircraft construction.

    “The MoU 13 An-178 MoU is the basis for moving forward with these models. As soon as Ukraine buys for itself, foreigners buy, ”the minister said.

The President of Antonov State Enterprise Alexander Donets also said that the company hopes for further bilateral cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

    “The Ministry of Internal Affairs has taken an important step in government procurement. They first ordered Ukrainian aircraft for their needs. We hope that we will not stop on AN-178 and AN-32P aircraft, "said the head of the Antonov SE
