 Ukraine can join the Takuba battle group in Africa

 Ukraine is considering joining the Takuba battle group operating on the African continent.

This was stated by French Defense Minister Florence Parley during a speech in the French Parliament. with reference to UMP.

The tasks of the group are training and preparation of local armed forces, prompt response to threats, etc.

The special mission Takuba is headed by France, its creation was announced on March 27, 2020 at a meeting of defense ministers of Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, the Netherlands and Portugal.

There is currently a discussion about the participation of one and a half hundred Swedish special forces, who are to join the group in early 2021.

The task force was set up at the request of the Governments of Nigeria and Mali amid deteriorating security in the Sahel.

It was to reach its initial operational potential in the summer of 2020, and full operational readiness in early 2021.

Ukraine is considering joining the Takuba battle group in Africa, which consists of special operations forces of European countries reinforced by additional means, subordinated to the French operation Barkhane ("Barkhan").

At the local level, the G5-Sahel battlegroup is co-operating with units from Burkina Faso, Mauritania, Mali, Niger and Chad.

France launched an anti-terrorist operation in Mali in 2013, the mission's task is to fight Islamist groups.

In addition to the French military, the operation, led by France, also involves fighters from other countries, including Estonia, which was to double its contingent last year.
