Kharkiv Doctors Offer Alternative to IVL Bubble CPAP (Video)
Professor of the Kharkiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education Volodymyr Korsunov suggested how to replace the artificial lung ventilation apparatus used in the treatment of coronavirus. For mild cases, COVID-19 has decided to use artificial lung ventilation using plastic bags using Bubble CPAP technology when the patient is wearing a bag over his head and breathing through a water lock.
The technology is no longer new and has been actively used about 20 years ago. It was used in the late 1990s and early 2000s, when old Soviet IVL machines were not suitable for children aged one or two years, and Bubble CPAP had to be used. This method has come in handy even now, with a critical shortage of artificial lung ventilation devices in Ukraine.
The package for the experiment was made at Biosphere Corporation from the Dnieper. The thickness of the package material is 40 microns, it is made of non-toxic material without any odor, with special soldering, safe tightening and valves. The package includes a special plastic bag and two parts for connecting oxygen and exhalation hoses. It is connected to an air supply unit. After that, the patient's neck is wrapped with an elastic bandage to avoid oxygen loss. The patient may stay in this system for up to 24 hours.
Doctors have checked the operation of his device, it works. Now it is necessary to organize production of a novelty. Special valves must be printed on 3D printers. According to the doctor, the company "Biosphere" will transfer packages to medical institutions for free.
