The world's largest turboprop Antonov fleet recovers cargo
An-22 “Antey” aircraft “Antonov Airlines” yesterday, April 15, departed from Gostomel and arrived in Leipzig. The aircraft will be involved in cargo transportation under the Strategic Airlift International Solution program.
“The plane is flying according to the SALIS program,” the editors at the Antonov SE confirmed. However, they said that under the terms of a contract with the NSPA (NATO Support Agency), they could not disclose information about work under the SALIS program.
The Antey An-22 is a turboprop, wide-body, transport aircraft that has set 41 world records. A total of 68 An-22s were issued. Antey aircraft were manufactured in 1966-1976. On the balance of Antonov Airlines there is one An-22, seven more are operated in the Russian Federation.
As stated earlier in the Antonov SE, the An-22 is the world's largest turboprop cargo aircraft. The company also noted that "when transporting the same cargo," Antey "is more cost effective than" Ruslan ".
