Ukraine is ready to resume production of "Kolchuga"

Zaporizhzhya Iskra is ready to launch a new radio intelligence complex in production.

CP "Iskra" proposes to develop and put into production a new radio intelligence station (RTR), which in its capabilities will be better than the known "Kolchug-M". Defense Director Yuri Paschenko told the Defense Express in an interview. Transmitted by the National Industrial Portal.

Responding to a question regarding the organization of production at the facilities of CP "Iskra" of complexes of radio intelligence "Kolchuga-M", as planned by the leadership of the country at that time, the director of CP "NVK" Iskra "Yuri Pashchenko said:" The situation here is quite complicated for a variety of reasons - personal, technical, organizational, etc. At one time we raised the question of how to resume production of the Mailbox as it is. But to do it on the documentation, which is, according to designers, including those related to its creation, is simply unrealistic. We consider it inappropriate to renew or upgrade these stations. Instead, we suggest designing and manufacturing a new machine. It will take all the best of the chain of command's capabilities, but some new options will be added. It will be a new station that looks new and is completed in a different way. The technical specification for the station has already been given by one of the units of the Ministry of Defense, but I think in the process of development work, it will change and take on more realistic outlines. "

Recall Kolchuga-M is an automated radio intelligence station. On the principle of action - passive radar. Due to the absence of active radiation, Kolchuga cannot be detected by electronic reconnaissance. Unlike active radars, the Kolchugy station does not emit electromagnetic pulses to then receive a reflected signal from the target. Instead, the Kolchuga detects a target for the radiation of on-board radio and electrical devices installed on the target.

The radius of operation of the station is 600 km deep, 150 km along the front. For aerial purposes up to 10 km altitude, the depth of the area is up to 800 km.

The sensitivity of the radio path is between 110 and 155 dB / W in the panoramic band. Five antenna systems are designed for different wavelengths. Kolchuga-M, controls pulsed and continuous radiation at 135-170, 230-470 and 750-18000 MHz.

The station was manufactured by the Donetsk Topaz plant, but with the beginning of the Russo-Ukrainian war in 2014, its production had to be transferred to the Iskra (Zaporizhzhya) oil and gas complex.
