Military engineers are restoring three airfields

Military engineers from separate engineering and airfield battalions of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are restoring three military airfields in Ukraine.
with reference to UMP.

They are currently working at military airfields in Vasylkiv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Kulbakine airfield, where work is underway on runways, aircraft parking and taxiways.

Similar work has already been completed at Starokostiantyniv and Melitopol airfields, and the latter has also restored a regular building, which has been overhauled after years of "stagnation."

In total, it is planned to restore artificial turf at almost 15 military airfields of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine this year.

Since 2014, work to restore the network of airfields is carried out regularly, so that year the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine began the restoration of three former airfields: Martynovka (Voznesensk in Mykolaiv region), Buyalik (Odessa region) and Chervonoglinskoe (Artsyz in Odessa region).

Until 2001, 642 fighter regiments on the MiG-29 were based in Martynovka (Voznesensk, Mykolaiv region).

Buyalyk airfield (Odessa region) was abandoned by the Ukrainian military in 2003 - before that, Su-24MR reconnaissance units from the 511th reconnaissance air regiment were based here.

Chervonoglinskoe airfield (Artsyz, Odessa region) existed as an air commandant's office until 2003, and by 1998 206 air bases (737 fighter regiments) were based here.

The works are carried out by units of 28 separate engineering and airfield battalions of the Air Command "South" (Mykolayiv) and 352 separate engineering and airfield battalions of the Air Command "West" (Khmelnytsky).

The task of aerodrome engineering battalions is to restore the existing airport infrastructure, as well as to build new aerodromes.
