The Ministry of Defense and Motor Sich have intensified work on a light attack helicopter
Work on the creation of a light attack helicopter for the Ukrainian army has been intensified within the framework of a joint decision between the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and Motor Sich.

According to the program, specialists of the State Research Institute for Testing and Certification of Arms and Military Equipment together with Motor Sich have created a special helicopter laboratory to evaluate design and technical solutions that will help create a new helicopter.
The flights of this laboratory, created on the basis of the modernized Mi-2, were filmed by the Defense Express agency at one of the military training grounds of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Especially for the assessment of all flight parameters, from the aerodynamic resistance of the weapon to the impact of gunpowder gases on the engine, the whole helicopter is "strewn" with sensors that allow you to record all the necessary parameters.
And to assess the actual use of suspended weapons, special trusses were installed on the helicopter to accommodate weapons and suspended containers in various configurations, as well as drag simulators.
The base for the laboratory was the Mi-2MSB from Motor Sich, which, compared to the base version, received more powerful Ukrainian AI-450M-B engines, a reducer of its own production, more modern avionics, navigation, communication systems, etc.
We would like to add that Motor Sich has processed and serially manufactured the entire main volume of components for the power plant, fuel system and flight equipment. In addition, this Zaporizhzhya enterprise is in the final stages of mastering the manufacture of blades.
Given the performance of other domestic enterprises in guidance systems, air weapons, avionics and other systems, one of the few issues is the fuselage. In any case, the possibility of creating a Ukrainian attack light helicopter is gradually becoming clear.

Such a helicopter can now occupy a completely empty niche of combat and reconnaissance light helicopters in the Ukrainian army, which in the armies of other countries are occupied by such models as Boeing AH-6, Bell OH-58 Kiowa, Bell ARH-70 and others.
