Transport aircraft An-26 of the Ukrainian Navy practiced flights with air bombs

An An-26 transport aircraft of the 10th Naval Aviation Brigade of the Ukrainian Navy was spotted while testing flights with air bombs.

The video of the An-26 with board number 10 carrying a FAB-type bomb on board was posted today on the official Facebook page of the Ukrainian Navy, which was noticed by Facebook commentator Sanya Kozatsky.

The exact date of filming is unknown, although the video is dedicated to the collection-campaign of ships and boats and support vessels of the Ukrainian Navy to the day of the Ukrainian Navy, which was celebrated on July 5.

However, in the photo from that event, no aerial bombs were installed on An-26 aircraft:

Therefore, the most probable video was shot on another day during the tactical and special exercises of naval aviation of the Ukrainian Navy.

The An-26 naval aircraft has previously placed pylons to markers used during landing or search and rescue operations, but the placement of bombs has recently been noticed for the first time.

In May 2020, bombing was practiced from Mi-8 MSB-B helicopters of the 10th Marine Aviation Brigade:

Therefore, it is likely that the relevant training was conducted from An-26 aircraft, but then did not get into the press service.

The possibility of placing air bombs up to 500 kg, as well as radio beacons such as "Stir-3" and "Ogonek" is provided by the design of the aircraft. To do this, it can be installed four beam holders BDZ-34 (two on each side) on the pylons and has a special sight NKPB-7.

The possibility of placing bombs was tested in 1972 on the An-26 02-02. During their carrying out VA Zalyubovsky's crew carried out from KMZ flight test base in Gostomel 14 flights in which the plane carried four FAB-500 or four OFAB-100. It was found that the suspension impairs the speed and maximum speed of the An-26, but the characteristics of its stability and handling are almost not affected.
