Nova Poshta is testing cargo robots. They cost 350 000 UAH apiece

The leader among commercial logistics operators in Ukraine, Nova Poshta, is testing robotic carts at a cargo terminal in Lviv. These are robotic platforms for transporting goods weighing up to 1000 kg.

One such robot costs 350 000 UAH. while 10 robots have been purchased at the terminal.

What are they needed for

Robot carts are used to transport goods from the unloading zone to the loading zone. They reach speeds of up to 0.8 m / s and can carry loads of up to 300 kg on themselves and pull up to 1000 kg. The main purpose is to facilitate terminal processes that require significant physical effort.

Nova Poshta believes that with the help of robotic trolleys at the cargo compartment of the Lviv Innovation Terminal (LEO) they will be able to process shipments weighing up to 30 kg faster.

It’s not the first year that Nova Poshta has been introducing automation in the sorting of goods and parcels; in Ukraine there are already three innovative terminals where goods are sorted almost automatically. Robotization is the next step in order to speed up the sorting processes even more and facilitate the physical work of employees, ”commented
in company.

How it works

Robots have a control panel. In one zone of the terminal, the trolley is loaded, and then an employee on the control panel sets the trajectory of movement, entering a combination of numbers.

To display the different stages of movement, the robot has a special three-color sensor. Green is the robot at the start and is ready for loading, red is in motion, yellow is unloading.

The movement occurs along a magnetic line. After unloading, the robots return to their original position.
