Odessa Aircraft Plant resumes testing of Y1 "Dolphin" aircraft of its own design. This is happening in a significant decline in production.

It will be recalled that last year the plant fulfilled two major international contracts - for the modernization of eight L-39ZA fighter jets for the Ugandan Air Force and the overhaul of a large batch of P13-300 aircraft engines for the Indian Air Force.
Unfortunately, things are worse with Ukrainian customers. The Ministry of Defense has not allocated the promised 30 million hryvnias this year for research and development work on the modernization of the front-line reconnaissance Su-24MR. Equipping our Air Force with such aircraft with fundamentally new methods of conducting reconnaissance would allow us to react much faster to the situation at the front.
But even in today's difficult conditions, the plant is trying to apply its knowledge in civil aircraft. Earlier we wrote about a small four-seater plane "Dolphin", which was tested on the Odessa aircraft. It can serve as an air "desk", an air taxi and perform many other tasks. Today, in the absence of military orders, the company decided to resume its test flights.
We will remind, the first flight of the winged car made in 2010, but, unfortunately, remained unnecessary. The plant conducted this topic at its own expense, periodically returning to the "Dolphin".
In general, it turned out a good plane… Economical diesel 230-horsepower engine Safran, running on kerosene, capable of accelerating the car to a maximum of 420 km per hour, and at a cruising speed of 350 km / h the plane can fly more than 1300 kilometers, which will reach Odessa to Kharkiv and back without refueling.
Now in the new shop of the so-called small aircraft there are already two "Dolphins", equipped with French engines. To start certification activities, the aircraft must fly about 180 hours, but today the prototype has no more than 150, so the factory every day, weather permitting, lifts the car into the air, examining its behavior in the air.
Simultaneously with factory tests the system of cooling and air supply to the engine is improved and modernized, forms of a cowl for the best work of all systems of "Dolphin" change.
