Ukrposhta increased the number of foreign shipments by 40% in May
Ukrposhta reported that more than 500 tons of shipments of Ukrainian exporters had been quarantined in two months. The estimated value of the transported exports of small and medium-sized businesses amounted to more than $ 40 million.
with reference to the CTS.
If in March the decline in traffic reached 30% compared to the same weeks last year, in May the growth of exports reached 42% compared to last year. With the ban on air travel, the national postal operator has restructured its logistics, as 95% of passenger planes, according to the IATA, have stopped operating regular flights.
Prior to the restrictions, 12 airlines (UIA, KLM / AirFrance, AirBaltic, Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa, LOT, Silk Way Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Austrian Airlines, FlyDubai, Belavia, SAS Airlines) delivered shipments to Ukrposhta at 32-47 flights per day depending on the flight schedule. Boryspil, Kyiv, Lviv and Odesa airports were involved in forwarding export shipments.
With the introduction of quarantine and a ban on regular transportation, Ukrposhta worked out a new logistics model: a weekly charter program was launched with UIA in New York; launched a number of regular cargo flights together with the airline "Eleron" (from Lviv to Riga, Tel Aviv and Frankfurt); launched a cargo program with Turkish Airlines in transit in Istanbul on 38 cargo and passenger routes; together with KLM and Lufthansa, delivery to a number of countries in Asia, South America and the Middle East was reformatted.
