For the past 25 years, her ministry has been connected with Ukraine.

Sister Liji (Lydia) Payyapili, SJSM, is originally from India. For the past 25 years, her ministry has been connected with Ukraine. In Transcarpathia, in the village of Pavshino (near Mukachevo), where the monastery of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph de Saint-Marc is located, the nun receives people for conversations and intercessory prayer. From time to time, she also visits parishes in Ukraine and abroad, where she is invited to spend a day of prayer. In an interview for Vatican media, Sister Liji talks about this year’s trips to the frontline cities of eastern and southern Ukraine, the importance of the prayer component in defending one’s land from the enemy, and the dimension of true independence in a country where war is ongoing.
