Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Khomenko won the gold medal of the European Championship among athletes under 19, which is held in Loznica (Serbia).
In the final match, the representative of the Ukrainian national team met with Russian Ivan Baibakov. Khomenko spent three rounds and, as a result of the fight, won by unanimous decision of the judges.
Thus, Oleksandr Khomenko became the European champion in his age category.
This victory was only the second triumph of a Ukrainian boxer over a representative of Russia after the start of a full-scale war. In 2022, Oleksandr Khyzhnyak defeated the Russian at the prestigious Strandzha tournament. It is worth noting that the World Boxing organization recently returned Russian athletes to its competitions with full rights.
