Ukrainian basketball player leaves US team after signing Russian player.

Kateryna Koval left LSU Tigers, which represents Louisiana State University in the NCAA. This happened less than two weeks after LSU Tigers signed Russian player Anna Minaeva, who previously played professionally for Moscow club MBA.

“We talked about this for a long time, and it was a difficult decision for her. I know it’s difficult because she loves LSU. Kateryna is a wonderful person. She has to do what she thinks is right for herself, and we fully support her in this. We all wish her all the best,” said team coach Kim Mulkey.

Kateryna Koval’s father serves in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
