Ukrainian Lyudmila Luzan won the first gold medal at the 2026 World Canoeing Championships.

Luzan won the victory at the Olympic distance of 200 meters. The athlete was ahead of her closest rival by 0.5 seconds.

▪️This is the ninth gold medal for Luzan in her career at the World Canoeing Championships. At the 2026 World Championships at the distance of 200 m in canoe singles, Lyudmila Luzan performed as the reigning European and world champion.
