How to delete an account in Skype and Microsoft - instructions
Unlike deleting accounts in regular instant messengers and social networks, deleting a Skype account entails the loss of access to many other applications from Microsoft.
Before deleting an account
A Skype account and a Microsoft account are the same account that will allow the user to log in to different Microsoft products, so only one of them cannot be deleted.
If you delete your Microsoft account (which will happen if you delete your Skype account), you will lose access to many of the company's services, including: OneDrive, Outlook, Xbox Live, NuGet.org, Office Online, Hotmail, and the Microsoft Store.
Even after deleting your Microsoft account, you will be able to use your Windows device, but some actions, such as cloud saving of documents and remote device management, will become unavailable.
Problems could be if the only account on your computer is a Microsoft account. Then we recommend creating a local user account before deleting it. For this:
Select Start> Settings> Accounts and click "Family and other users";
Select "Add user for this computer";
Select “I don’t have login information for this person” and on the next page click “Add a user without a Microsoft account”;
Enter your username, password, password hint, or select security questions, and then click Next.
Deleting Skype / Microsoft Account
You can delete your Skype account both in the Windows application and in your smartphone or in the web version of Skype. The interface is identical on all platforms, so the instructions are suitable for any of the options.
1. You need to go to Skype settings. To do this, click on the three dots next to the profile name and select the "Settings" section in the menu that opens.
2. In the settings, go to the "Account and profile" tab (it should open by default), and in it - the item "Close account".
3. Skype will ask for additional authorization. You will need to re-enter your username and password.
4. Depending on the method of registration, a verification code will be sent to your phone number or e-mail.
5. After that, a window will open with a list of warnings describing which services we are losing access to. (We recommend that you carefully read this entire list so that, for example, do not forget important files in OneDrive, to which you will lose access). Check the boxes next to each of the items.
6. After reviewing the page to the end and putting all the checkmarks, you need to select the reason for deleting your account and click on "Mark for closing".
7. Immediately after clicking on "Mark for closing", a letter will be sent to the mailing address with the date until which your data will be stored in Microsoft. You will have 60 days to change your mind and restore your account.
