The Ukrainian satellite "Sich-2-1" should be launched into space by the end of the year
On Monday, February 1, 2021, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleh Urusky held a meeting on the creation of Ukrainian spacecraft for high-resolution remote sensing of the Earth with reference to the Defense Express.
In particular, during the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister drew attention to the acceleration of the task of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to launch the Sich-2-1 remote sensing spacecraft into orbit (new name 2-30).
"We must take all necessary measures to make this happen by the end of 2021, the year of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's independence. And this is quite real under the condition of the most effective work and is an urgent need, ”Oleh Uruskyi emphasized.
“We have a paradoxical situation: Ukraine has a significant scientific and technical potential and almost everything to have its own group of spacecraft in orbit, but, unfortunately, it is absent. There are various reasons for this, but the situation needs to change, ”added the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine.
We will remind, the Ukrainian satellite gathers in the Dnieper KB more than one year. Thus, back in 2019, the press service of the Pivdenne Design Bureau announced the completion of the assembly of a flight model of this spacecraft and the beginning of its testing.
In turn, at the end of last year, "Southern" announced plans to launch the satellite in 2021.
“Radio-technical tests of the spacecraft for remote sensing of the earth“ Sich-2-1 ″ ”continue. The State Space Agency of Ukraine plans to ensure the launch of the satellite next year, "- said in the final video review of the achievements of CB" South "-" Events and Facts 2020 ".
