For the first time in Ukraine, sunflower oil was transshipped on the high seas

For the first time in Ukraine, an operation was carried out to reload sunflower oil from a river tanker to the sea in the open sea. A year was spent preparing the operation.

The company noted that this is the first time such an operation has been carried out in Ukraine, and a year has been spent on planning and preparation. If grain overload is commonplace for Ukraine, then for sunflower oil it is a real breakthrough, because the conditions for STS overload of aphid tankers are much higher than for bulk carriers, which requires a much higher level of safety. Such overloads require the use of special hoses and a specialized auxiliary vessel.

The oil was transshipped from the river tanker UBC Amosov to the sea tanker SC Draco near the external raid of the Nikolaev port of Bank Trutayev (near Ochakov) at the request of Kernel. The tankers were loaded by the specialized port of Nika-Tera.

The sea tanker "SC Draco" was loaded in the Nikolaev port "Nika-Tera" with 33200 tons of oil on the maximum draft of 10,3 m then left on "Trutaev's Bank" for reloading. The United Barge tanker UBC Amosov loaded 2,600 tons of oil on SC Draco. This allowed to significantly reduce the freight costs of the entire vessel and optimize logistics, avoiding the cost of calling at a second Ukrainian port, the company said.
