The Central Concentration Plant in Kryvyi Rih will switch to alternative fuels

 

 In Kryvyi Rih, Metinvest is implementing an energy efficiency improvement project at the central mining and processing complex for heat treatment of pellets. Instead of natural gas, sunflower husks will be used here.

Previously, the Central GOK used about 95% of the consumed natural gas to dehydrate and provide strength, which is now being replaced by crushed sunflower husks. After modernization, about 20% of the gas used will be replaced by alternative fuels.

The pilot period, which lasted more than a year, confirmed the economic effect of the project, so the campaign plans to gradually increase the volume of gas substitution to 45%. Implementation of the project allowed to reduce gas consumption and reduce costs by 20.6 million hryvnias.
