The An-178 aircraft for Peru is waiting for domestic engines and imported components

 

 The An-178 transport aircraft currently under construction at the Antonov State Enterprise is waiting for engines and imported components for the Peruvian police.

This was stated in an interview with the Defense and Industrial Courier by Acting President of SE "Antonov" Sergei Bychkov with reference to UMP.

Now the work on the glider of the future aircraft is almost completed.

Construction of the aircraft for law enforcement officers from the South American country began in 2019 after the signing of an agreement to purchase a new Ukrainian-made aircraft.

    “… We are now waiting for deliveries of imported components for installation. And, of course, we are waiting for engines from Zaporizhia - in order to mount and start the so-called strapping directly on the plane, "said Serhiy Bychkov.

An-178 aircraft are equipped with D-436-148FM twin-circuit aircraft turbojet engines, which were specially developed by the Ivchenko-Progress State Enterprise for use on a transport aircraft.

Manufactured by Motor Sich Joint-Stock Company from Zaporizhia.

The An-178 aircraft with serial number 006 is being built for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Peru within the framework of the agreement signed in 2019 with SE "Spetstechnoexport".

Acting President of the State Enterprise "Antonov" assured that it will take another year to complete all the work.

It will be recalled that on December 29, 2020, Antonov received a state order for three An-178 aircraft for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, which was initially notified as a memorandum, and later clarified that the memorandum concerned cooperation with the Defense Ministry. .

The relevant contract for the supply of these aircraft was signed by Acting Serhiy Bychkov, Director General of ANTONOV, and Vladyslav Shostak, Director of the Department of Military-Technical Policy, Armament Development and Military Equipment of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
