Ukrainians create Kawoon messenger. How does he work

 

 A division of the Ukrainian IT company RiverSoft is working on the Kawoon messenger. According to the developers, it should solve the problem of oversaturation of text blogs and large groups, which is typical for popular competing platforms. The project has already invested $ 100,000. The official launch is scheduled for the spring of 2021.

Kawoon is a Ukrainian messenger for communities. At the time of the release of the material, Kawoon is under development, although the application is available for download and is working - you can download iOS and Android. There is no web version yet.

As the company told AIN.UA, the main idea of ​​the project is to solve the problem of large communities in messengers, since the existing platforms were created for the purpose of communication of a small number of people and are not designed for such content.

How Kawoon works

The entry point to the application is a list of communities and blogs. In this case, the group itself is a combination of a feed and a chat. According to the company, this was done in order to separate posts and text floods among themselves.

Kawoon users can personally create communities and add users, publish posts, and also join other topic groups. Posts can be liked and commented on, while the main communication takes place in a separate "Chat" tab. In addition, posts in communities can be tagged.

In the future, Kawoon will be able to subscribe to a specific tag or group of tags. According to the company, this will solve the problem of receiving notifications about posts in the group that are really interesting to the reader.

It is also planned to introduce the possibility of publishing the content of a personal blog or group, as a website, with the subsequent possibility of indexing.

    “This is an important part of the project, since we believe that the content should not belong to the platform: it should belong to the author,” the company comments.

Idea and team

The idea to create such an application belongs to Maxim Kuchur, CEO of the Kremenchug IT company Riversoft. During the quarantine, in the spring of 2020, he drew attention to the constant increase in the number of publics on Telegram. The difficulty was that due to the large amount of information, half of the channels remained unread. In addition, flooding in groups often interrupts important messages.

    “The number of channels and publics in Telegram became such that it was impossible to get rid of them, and I began to notice that some channels, I simply do not have time to read. Many of my acquaintances had the same problem, ”comments Maksim Kuchur.

Riversoft has a team of 8 people working on the application. It includes 3 developers, a designer, a manager, a marketer, a copywriter and a PR manager.
Investment and development

The project is financed by a Ukrainian investor, whose name is not disclosed in the company. As of January 2021, more than $ 100,000 have been invested. The total investment for the end of 2021 is planned in the amount of $ 500,000.

Kawoon team focuses on student communities. In order to develop the project, the company is negotiating with Ukrainian universities, as well as bloggers on Telegram. In the future, it is planned to launch an advertising campaign. According to Kawoon, the application also interested student organizations in Poland. In general, Kawoon plans to get at least 1 million users per year.
